The draw for the 2024 National Futsal Championships has been released as the best futsal players from around the country prepare to meet on the Gold Coast in January.
Hosted by Football Queensland and delivered in partnership with Tourism and Events Queensland and Experience Gold Coast, the 2024 National Futsal Championships will be held at the Gold Coast Sports and Leisure Centre from Friday, 5 January to Tuesday, 9 January 2024 and will feature teams from across seven Member Federations.
Football Australia CEO, James Johnson spoke of his anticipation for the 2024 National Futsal Championships to be staged in Queensland.
“The National Futsal Championships 2024 will be an exciting week of futsal as the best players from around the country converge on the Gold Coast to compete for the title of national champions,” Johnson said.
“Football Australia would like to extend our sincere thanks to Football Queensland for their tireless efforts in coordinating the Summer Festival of Futsal, which will encompass the 2024 National Futsal Championships.
“We would also like to express our gratitude to event partners the Queensland Government, Tourism and Events Queensland, and Experience Gold Coast, plus wish the best of luck to the players, coaches, officials, support staff, and volunteers for the next edition of these Championships,” concluded Johnson.
Football Queensland CEO, Robert Cavallucci said the tournament would be a fitting way to kick off 2024 after such a significant 12 months for the game.
“The 2024 National Futsal Championships will be a momentous occasion for futsal in our state, with Queensland last hosting the national tournament 17 years ago,” Cavallucci said.
“After a huge year for football not only in Queensland but across the country as the biggest ever edition of the FIFA Women’s World Cup™ landed on our shores, the National Futsal Championships provide the perfect introduction to the new year in what is set to be an action-packed five days of competition.
“In line with Football Queensland's strategic commitment to growing the game of futsal, we’re excited to welcome over 1,000 players, coaches, officials and their families from around Australia to the beautiful Gold Coast as we host the 2024 National Futsal Championships as part of an unmissable Summer Festival of Futsal,” concluded Cavallucci.
The 2024 National Futsal Championships will feature players in the following age groups; U12 – U16 Boys, Youth Men and Open Men, U13, U15 and U17 Girls, Youth Women and Open Women, and Open AWD Mixed.
